I GOT THE JOB!!! Yay, Bman76 is going to be employed! And, to top things off, I stayed at my “cool” aunt and uncle’s house. How cool? (Pic after the jump)
Immaculate E46 M3 cool:
Seriously, it is E46 perfection
There’s a BMW touring bike of the R or K (not sure which) variety under that cover in the background.
Other cars he’s owned:
5th gen Camaro
4th gen TA
Two different IROC-Zs
BMW X5
E60 M5
9th gen Honda Accord (Aunt’s car)
An S10 (His DD)
Jeep Commander
Assorted other 2nd and 3rd gen F-bodies
Dirty bird is jealous of that sweet BMW I6 goodness
I also saw this 996 GT3 on the way back:
I also saw my first Tesla Model X and holy crap it’s so much uglier in person. I always thought people who were criticizing them after seeing them were just being hyperbolic. The proportions are completely off, it is really that bad.
But, anyway, I’ve got to move to Wichita next week because:
I GOT THE JOB!!!

I was going to reserve judgement on the Model X until I saw it in person. Having seen two, it’s hideous.

Same here, I thought people were just being harsh, but no, it’s actually that bad.

I know that feeling. Out of what seems like 2000 resumes sent you finally get a bite and nail it? Ooh. Tingly.

It happened so fast. I sent my stuff in Friday, they emailed me Tuesday that they wanted to meet, I drove down yesterday, and this happened today. Less than a week.

I’m officially an Architectural Intern (I have to intern for 3000+ hrs and pass my AREs before I’m an “Architect”)

Yeah, the Model X is a hideous chud. It looks like a bloated whale carcas.

HIGH FIVE Sir. Started a new job Aug 1st, and it may have been the best decision I’ve made in a decade.

As an architect, I feel like numbers are important so you might want to work on not mistyping numbers that aren’t near each other during your internship.
Ok, all sarcasm aside, congratulations! Hope it goes well and tell you Aunt and Uncle we like their car choices!

Architectural interns are paid, but the wages are pretty abysmal. Source: my wife, the former architectural intern.

Congratulations. Now get busy taking those exams. You don’t want to end up like my wife - two kids, a job, and studying for the exams. You are sooooo lucky that the rules changed and you can start on the exams while the information is still pretty fresh in your head. The flip side is that the years of experience makes taking some of the exams much easier. I’d still vote for taking them early. Our household has been in turmoil since my wife started sequestering herself every night to study. I think the kids are getting tired of mac-and-cheese for dinner. :)

Well there’s cars and coffee next weekend, but I’m not going to make it. There’s a show every Friday night at Central and West as long as the weather is good.
Plus there’s plenty of autocross season left. Next event is September 18th
